Descriptions of Newton Ring Microscopes
Newton Ring Microscopes is a special type of microscope used for studying the phenomenon of Newton's rings, named after Sir Isaac Newton who first studied it in 1717. It is an interference pattern resulting due to the reflection of light between two different surfaces - a spherical surface and an adjacent flat surface. When viewed in monochromatic light, the observers get to see a series of concentric, alternating bright and dark rings centered at the point of contact between the two surfaces. And when it is viewed in white light, the observers can see a concentric ring pattern of rainbow colors.
